Baseball Season!

I never had much interest in Baseball up until 3 years ago when I met my boyfriend AJ! I never even watched it on TV, and when I met AJ I didn't even know he played baseball at our high school haha! But for AJ, baseball is his life so I have now become a major baseball fan and its because of him that I now understand why baseball is "America's favorite pass time"!  Over the past few years I have learned a lot about the game! It seems pretty simple but I have found that it is a really technical game!  Of course I love seeing AJ play, but its not the only reason I enjoy the sport! I truly enjoy watching a game with AJ on TV or wherever! I guess thats a good thing because with him we watch A LOT of baseball:)

Anyways I have been enjoying AJ's senior season this year especially with all the warm weather lately!  He has a scholarship to play baseball at The University of Alabama next year where they are planning on starting him at short stop!  So I can't wait to be there with him and come to all his games there next spring!!! I am so proud of him! God has truly gifted him with an athletic ability especially in Baseball!

Goodbye Appendix!

Well just to let you all know I had appendicitis and an appendectomy 3 nights ago so the past 4 days have been totally unexpected!  I am finally up to getting on my computer and taking some time away from sleeping to let you all know what has been going on!  Through all of this I can't stop thinking about the story of Madeline, the little french girl who had appendicitis.  I have always loved that story and I know one day I will read it to my kids and tell them my story too.

(Note: I am writing out all the details from the experience simply for journaling purposes so when I look back on this in the future I will remember.  So if you find it boring you don't have to read on.)

Saturday evening I began having really severe pain in my lower right abdomen.  At first it wasn't to bad so i thought I could take a nap and be fine...Well when I woke up it was worse, much worse!  At this point my mom was getting pretty concerned but the last place I wanted to go was the hospital so I was determined to tough it out!  I was supposed to go to a play that night so I decided maybe if I got up and moved around I would feel better.  So I got up curled my hair, put a dress on, touched up my make up, and then I started to realize something was really wrong.  My mom was upstairs with me and I started to get really nauseous, i broke out in a cold sweat,  and thought I was going to faint.  Now I was ready to go to the hospital!  So I sat down and we changed my clothes and called my boyfriend and we left for the hospital.  At this point I could barely walk from the pain on the right side of my stomach! I waited, got taken back where they ran a tone of tests. AJ and his mom stayed with me and my mom until around 12,  and me and mom stayed in that tiny E.R. room from 9-4:30 in the morning when they finally admitted me into the main hospital because they were still not sure what was wrong! Finally the next day a surgeon evaluated me, and they decided I needed to have laproscopic surgery and possibly an appendectomy.  I had a feeling it was appendicitis because of that stabbing pain that after 24 hours had still not gone away.  So I was scheduled for surgery at 7 Sunday night.  I have never had surgery or even been put to sleep before so I was sooo nervous! My mom, dad, AJ, and Lydia, my boyfriends mom, were all there so that made me feel a little more relaxed, but I kept having the terrifying thought of "what if I never see these people I love so much again after tonight." Now, I know it was a simple surgery but I tend to let my imagination take over in situations like this. But then, after everyone had prayed for me, I knew God would be with me and the doctors through the surgery and everything would be ok.  They took me down to prep for surgery and gave me some "don't care medicine" and then the last thing I remember is breathing in that plastic mask they put on your face to put you to sleep.  I was out and an hour later I was waking up in the recovery room! It was strange, it felt like not a second had passed and it was over!  I didn't say anything unusual or embarrassing either haha thank goodness!  I remember asking several times when I would get to see my family and I don't remember the ride back up to my room.  But, I do remember opening my eyes and seeing AJ standing at my door with flowers:) Then inside my mom, and dad and Lydia all waiting for me. OH, it felt so good to see them I was so relieved!! I couldn't talk very well yet and I did catch AJ and my dad making fun of me haha typical!  It turned out I did have appendicitis in the early stages so it didn't show up on tests, but when they got in there they were infected.  The next day around lunch I got to go home!  My incisions have been REALLY sore so I haven't been able to walk much or even stand up on my own because it is impossible to use my stomach muscles right now!  You don't realize how much you use your abs until you have surgery on your stomach! A few days ago I would have never guessed I would be lying in bed right now recovering from surgery!  It has all been pretty crazy, but all my friends have been so nice to give me gifts and come by to see me!  It will be 6 weeks before I can go back to normal things like working out, or lifting anything over 15 pounds.  I pray this time in my life goes by quickly!

A diaper, a blender, a blueberry, & 2 little boys!

Eli (5) and Cooper (2), my adorable little brothers are super sweet, but there are always those moments when they decide to set out on a war path! Wednesday night was one of those times! Now keep in mind this all played out in a matter of about 5 minutes or less!
So Eli and Coop are playing around the house when we realize Cooper has decided to take off his wet diaper and it has been slung around and torn open...Now I had never seen what happens when a diaper is ripped open, especially a wet one, but believe me it is messy! There were thousands of little silicone wet beads, which I assume absorb the moisture, everywhere! And I mean everywhere; all over the floor, the rug, in eli and coopers hair, haha needless to say it was a mess! So they get ban to the couch and dad brings in the vacuum to start clean up! Just before he starts we hear a shatter in the pantry, my step mom brandy accidentally dropped the blender, poor brandy, first the boys now the blender...Oh but the destruction was not over yet!  Now the boys are not allowed off the couch while we clean this all up, but even on the couch they find something else to mess up haha! Next Eli informs us that Cooper has blueberries!  I go to inspect and find that Cooper has smooshed blueberries into the couch cushions! There are nice little purple circles on the couch, lovely! Haha at this point the whole situation started to just become comical!  With that much happening so fast, like something out of a movie, the only way to not loose your mind is to laugh it off!

I snapped some pictures of Eli and Cooper on the couch watching their disaster being cleaned up! I just thought they looked so cute, funny, and guilty all at once!

God bless them, there is never a dull moment!

Lent!

Today is the start of Lent, and we are supposed to think of something we enjoy and give it up for 40 days! I am not Catholic, but I always try to participate in Lent.  I am not as bold as some of my friends giving up things like Facebook, and sugar!  Because I can not live without some sugar in my diet, I have decided to just give up candy! NO CANDY for 40 days! It might be tough because when i'm sitting at AJ's baseball games I love some peanut m&m's, but I think I can do it!  Today until April 18, I will go candy free and it will be over just in time for Easter!

Are you giving up anything for Lent this year?

Happy Mardi Gras!

Since today is Mardi Gras I started thinking about the Disney Princess movie, "Princess and the Frog" set in New Orleans Louisiana!  No matter what age I am I will always love Disney Princess movies!!

In this movie one of my favorite characters is Charlotte, Tianna's best friend, and the Princess of Mardi Gras! She is cute and bubbly and has an obsession with ball gowns, and the color pink, and dreams of marrying a prince! If I could wear a ball gown everyday believe me I would!  The movie is adorable, full of good music, food, and southern belles!  So in honor of Mardi Gras I am going to watch "Princess and the Frog" because you are never to old to watch Princess movies!

Beiber Fever!

Justin Bieber.  The 16 year old pop singer sensation has captured the hearts of girls all across America, including the heart of my 13 year old sister Abbie Grace!  Ever since the Justin Beiber movie "Never Say never" hit theaters Abbie Grace has been completely obsessed.  I remember being obsessed with NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys but I can't quite relate to the way she feels about Justin Beiber.  She came running in the door of my dads house a week ago and excitedly showed us all her new blanket with Justin Biebers face on it, Bieber bracelets, Beiber wall posters, and made sure we all knew she would be buying his cardboard cutout very soon! It is unbelievable to see the way these young girls react when it comes to Justin Bieber.  They scream and cry and are speechless in his presence...and my sister is right there with them all!
Tonight at dinner Justin Beiber came up and as usual Abbie Grace was having to defend her love against my brother and my dad who insist Justin is a girl and will only call him Justin "Beaver" instead of Beiber.  She proudly announced she has 58 pictures of Beiber on her phone so she can have a new background of his face everyday.  As the exchange went on my Grandma asked who we were talking about. Abbie Grace asked her "Do you know who Justin Beiber is?" And looked shocked when she found out my Grandma didn't.  So then, like she was coming out with a confession said, well..I......I love Justin Bieber!!!  She smiled and looked around like she had just told us all about her secret crush!  It was honestly hilarious!  It shocks me how this young boy is influencing my sister and tons of other girls just like her.  I just feel sorry for Abbie Grace's real boyfriend haha he has some big shoes to fill!
